to
China
in
1960,
he

the
director
of
the
newly
established
Changzhou
Electronic
Factory,
one
of
the
first
electronic
component
manufacturing
facilities
in
China.
Under
his
leadership,
the
factory
developed
a
range
of
high-quality
components
that
were
widely
used
in
the
country's
electronic
industry. In
the
1970s,
Lu
saw
the
potential
of
the
computer
industry
and
founded
Tongfang,
the
first
computer
manufacturer
in
China.
He
led
the
company
to
produce
the
first
microcomputer
in
China,
the
"Rainbow",
which
marked
a
significant
milestone
in
the
country's
computer
industry.
Tongfang
also
developed
a
range
of
other
electronic
products,
such
as
televisions,
radios,
and
calculators,
which
became
popular
among
Chinese
consumers. Lu's
contributions
to
China's
electronic
industry
were
widely
recognized
by
the
Chinese
government.
He
was
awarded
the
title
of
"Outstanding
Contributor
to
the
Reform
and
Opening-up
of
China"
in
1992
and
was
elected
as
a
member
of
the
Chinese
Academy
of
Engineering
in
1999. Today,
Tongfang
has
become
one
of
the
largest
electronics
firms
in
China,
with
a
range
of
products
that
include
computers,
televisions,
and
smartphones.
