town
in
the
Gobi
desert,
where

crossed

Corridor,

I
was
amazed
by
the
beauty
of
the
Mogao
Caves,
a
UNESCO
world
heritage
site
that
contains
thousands
of
Buddhist

sculptures,

date

to
the
Tang
dynasty.
These
artworks
depict
the
gods,
goddesses,
and
monsters
that
Xuanzang
and
his
companions
faced
on
their
perilous
journey. From
Dunhuang,
I
traveled
south
to
Lhasa,
the
spiritual
center
of
Tibet,
where
I
visited
the
Potala
Palace,
a
magnificent
structure
that
served
as
the
residence
of
the
Dalai
Lama.
The
palace
has
a
strong
connection
to
Xuanzang,
who
is
said
to
have
visited
it
during
his
travels
and
introduced
Buddhism
to
Tibet. Finally,
I
reached
India,
where
I
followed
the
path
of
Xuanzang
to
the
holy
city
of
Varanasi.
There,
I
witnessed
the
daily
rituals
performed
by
Hindu
priests
on
the
banks
of
the
Ganges
river,
and
I
felt
a
deep
sense
of
awe
and
reverence
for
the
spiritual
traditions
that
have
flourished
in
this
land
for
millennia. My
trip
to
China
and
India
was
a
dream
come
true,
a
magical
journey
that
allowed
me
to
experience
a
world
of
wonder
and
inspiration.
Mythical

and
fascinate

of
